Yeah I have tried different belts with same result but am wondering if the gears inside the machine are not providing the lift to the belt properly

      Genuine toner?
Yes pretty much cause of bad toner.
Dumping on laser needs to be properly cleaned after removing PH unit.
Just a thought as we use only OEM.

Not yet, but is that a problem on the 8 series? Never had a problem on the 4 series doing that.

If you wanna know if it's related to ITB mechanism or drum/devarea just force a stop during printing a large full coverage test page and take a look at the drums/ITB.

            Any ideas?

            Thanks all!

its a dumb issue and a dumb fix, i presume you are using third party drums or chipped black drums?
usually its to do with the calibration of the drum itself, if you have a look at the drum, the adjustments on the black / k and colour is diffrent. image.png

although pic rel is a c250i, you can get the same issue
first look at whats circled in red, make sure the cyan one is diffrent to black, if it looks like pic below, then dissasemble the front peice (the blue plate you pull out the machine) then adjust whats circled in purple

mrfuser It looks like one of the pressure springs to the right and left of the transfer roller are missing, or one of spring cradles is cracked. But if that was the case you would see the same fading when running Black halftones. May be worth a look anyway.

That was my thought as well on this. That is what you get when you improperly convert the black drums to color on the 8-series machines.

it was 1 drum causing all the grief. prior company servicing the unit left the bad drum in there. I ordered all new drums and replaced 1 at a time, ended up being Cyan. Go figure, thanks Konica !
