    Konica Minolta C550i - boot issue 50%

    Hi guys,

    got a Konica Minolta C550i - boot issue 50%,

we have tried the boot/recovery tool, controller firmware, normal firmware, tried a 2nd hand STRGB, the machine has about 350k.

the recovery tool came back with OK results on both the SPI Flash Check and SSD/MICROSD Check, result for SSD/MICROSD Check came with 'if machine doesn't boot, reload firmware' which we did try again but still not booting,

potentially looking at the CPU but wanted to get some suggestions before ordering the expensive board

its the CPUB. its always the CPUB. they have been shite in all machines post covid production. they are almost guaranteed to fail on almost every machine.
newer firmware (RB, RD, RE) are supposed to address issues with them but its too early to tell.

Konica went from bad to worst. We had already cooked CPU boards on A4 machines nevertheless now they transferred this shite to A3 models...wtf?
I was disgusted of A4 machines now where to go?!?

Would not hurt to reload the boot program
        put firmware stick in mahcine
        go to firmware screen
before the firmware starts, hit machine type
enter 172938 (make sure machine type does not change)
        Hit OK
bring you back to firmware screen
at bottom of page you will see BOOT

thanks Shadows i will give that a go,

on another note we have a few faulty STRGB's, we have an SSD adapter and i have seen on here you can potentially recover the boards?

i understand you have to delete all partitions on the SSD but then what do you do? do you delete all of them then put the SSD back into the machine? or if there another process to do before that?

connect to the pc, remove the partitions and format in fat32, then install boot rom following service manual, after that install firmware, and finally, push recover data when it appears on display after rebooting after fw load

Is there a way on the small printers (the one I'm thinking of Konica rebrands as a 4000i) to disable the wireless interface? We have users who push that wifi button and turn off their Ethernet interface on a weekly basis.

We have had no luck with RE. Still we get the 0X1FFF (or whatever it is) error after updating. Hopefully Konica releases an actual fix be it software or hardware soon.

Happens to us as well we switch it of under the network settings and then somehow it comes back to life. Switching off the WDS helps a ton.

Lucky that I don't need to know a too much about them. Of all our machines they bother me the least. I need to watch a YouTube video to reset the fuser. 😜

Remove the CPU and mem board and cleaning the contacts solved a couple of these i-series weirdness before.

We also deal in brothers for small office colour A4s and this happens a LOT! I would love to know if this is possible also.

That's worked for me a few times as well. It seems like they have left over flux (or something) stuck on the contacts between the CPU daughter card and the main board sometimes.

The only thing we have ever gotten to work was gluing a chunk of plastic over that button so they can't press it. It's an ugly solution however.
