Bad quality only when making copies c224

Hi, i have a c224 with bad quality only when making copies.
when printing from a connected computer the quality is fine but when making copies the colors appear faded out.
I tried cleaning the ADF but problem persists. Any ideas on what would be causing this problem ?
Or can someone please explain to me why would there be a difference between copy and print quality?
    Thanks in advance.

what has the adf have to do with it?
take off the platen and clean all the mirrors really well and do an image init&stab and then all 9 gradations.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

Good advice from Synthohol. Since this is your first post I'm assuming you are and end user. Few things to keep in mind, when cleaning the mirrors use a soft cloth because mirrors can scratch easily. You can slide the mirror assembly away from home position to clean mirrors but don't knock the mirrors out of their holder when cleaning or moving assembly. Also make sure to clean bottom side of glass since you have it out.

Yeah i already did that before posting, cleaned mirrors and everything with a soft microfiber but the copy quality did not improve at all. Doing stab+grad did not work also. Thanks for the advice.

what does the image look like if you just do a background data reset and stabilize?
all readings go to 0 and you should get a darker copy. no gradation adjustments yet.
just curious if it changes the density of the copy.

Since all optics are clean then you may be looking at a bad CCD unit. After all the machine is over 10 years old!

Since printing from the machine is not affected by the issue , that could be the culprit. Is it a known issue for older machines like mine?

It wasn't real common issue when I was working on them years ago but sure is possible now that they are really old. I have a few CCD units if you are in the US.
