    300i waste box installation error

I have a 300i that has the message waste box not installed even though it is fitted. I’ve checked the set sensor for the box and it is changing state when the box is fitted. I reseated all the connectors but it still does it, even after trouble reset.
    Has anyone had this before?

Check the black plastic arm inside the copier on the left side of waste box area. It should freely move back and forth. Press it in inwards, towards the back of the copier, and when you let go there is a spring that should push it back out. If that is not operating properly, you might also get the same message.

That arm is moving correctly however now you’ve said that there’s nothing to say the sensor is ok. There is no check item in diagnostics for that sensor.
i will certainly replace that sensor when I get the chance.

Also the lever itself may need replacement.

That sensor is in a location where it can get dirty very easily. Toner falls through the slot where the actuator is and gets on the sensor. You have to remove the cover to get to the sensor, but cleaning the sensor may be all that it needs.

Double check that all of the doors are closed - had this on a C458, kept telling me to replace the WTB, even though I had, discovered the RH door was slightly open - but not enough for the machine to show the door open error

had the same situation with C258 except it was black toner...which I personally replaced but it keeps telling "replenish toner" until I discovered what you did

While you have that open, I would also add an extra turn to the spring on that lever. Normally a weak spring would result in a C2204 code, but you never know.
