    C368 ADF Skew problem

    Hi All,
I have a client with a C368 and I cannot get the ADF Skew corrected.

I start by measuring and adjusting the skew with the ADF Automatic Adjustment, and the full range of motion for the right hinge gives me readings between -1.6 and -1.9

I have been able to get it as low as -.6 by running Sub Scanning and Main Scanning repeatedly, but I cannot get it within spec no matter what I do.

It seems to be drifting with each measurement

Anyone have any ideas what may be happening and how to correct it?

Os there some way to zero the optics so that I can start from scratch on the physical adjustments?

    Thanks!

Yep, nice and square. I even took a level to the client site and it's flat

If you can't get it corrected via the hinge adjustment, the ADF also has a manual adjustment that controls the angle of the registration rollers in it, which might help. Just be aware that this will change the angle at which the paper feeds through the feeder, and if it's a dual scan, it may throw off the second side and require that the second side scan be adjusted as well.

First, open the ADF and unpeel the white platen cover, make sure all of the frame screws are tight. Over time the screws can loosen or even worse, the screw holes closer to the hinges can break. We have replaced ADF base frames because of this.

Second, is it skew or keystone? If it's keystone, lead and trail are square but the sides are skewed evenly, a trapezoid, then the front left corner of the optics frame is sagging OR the ADF height adjustment needs to be done.

Third, close the ADF and grab ahold of it nice and tight and give it a good ol' fashioned "technical adjustment" in the direction you want it to go, ie, yank hard on it.

Fourth, at some point the ADF may just be beyond being able to correct for skew.

After checking all valuable advices maybe it is worth starting from scratch. Run all adjustments as if it was new, one after another starting with 3 points which must be level with glass. I never had one this so far away. Maybe 0.1/0.2 outside acceptable range+-0.5 but not that huge as yours.
