C458 with C-2557, brand new dev unit

I recently replaced the DV unit on a c458 and it will throw a code C-2557, when I check conf state the K is way low, which is throwing the code. I have added toner manually through service mode however the change is very little. Im thinking its just a defective DV unit but hate to throw another one at it just to see and find out if there is machine issue.

    anyone run into this?

    What about toner?

Have had this happen... usually the sub hopper assy. (Toner feed assy). Also be wary of aftermarket toner, only use a trusted brand, i have seen some mess with the sensor in the DV unit.

Did you really shake the dev unit before installing, especially if box was sitting on end. Did you replace the DV unit because of the 2557 code or something else?

I had a machine that would take a new developing unit, and suck all the toner out of it in about 90 seconds. It was caused by a bad HVT. It took me (3) developing units to figure that out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'm with Thib on this one. Although we had one doing this but TCR was OK.
Toners all OEM. We did HVT, DV, DR and ITB still the same.....Grhhh

Before replacing the developer unit, was your machine working? Or what was the reason for replacing developer unit?
If TCR value is low in old and new devloper units , then work on Sub hopper assembly, your black toner is not supplied to developer unit.
You have to open the hopper assembly and remove all the all cmyk toners from hopper assembly. Check the mechanism of toner agitator sometime it will stuck or you can find the toner caking within agitator.
Clean the toner sensors and repack.
Machine has to take the toner automatically after doing this..
It is a common problem due to compatible toners.
You can fix it by opening the hopper assembly.
              Relax.👍
