    C287 VoIP faxing

Any member here ever use a GrandStream device for faxing VoIP? My customer had this Grandstream working on their old Canon copier. I installed fax in their C287 and tried to use the Grandstream, it has dial tone, feeds in original, shows it's sending, then stops and error report shows NG. The code was T00. If you call the fax # your hear the fax tone. By the way Grandstream is a device like a switch that has ethernet cable going in and phone line going out to copier fax. Are there any settings that need to be done on copier side for VoIP to work?
    Thanks in advance

Yes. We use grandstreams here in our office. However, to get fax to work right with VoIP the phone system, ATA (Grandstream), and the VoIP provider need to support T.38. As long as the machine has SuperG3 on it should allow T.38 to start. We turn ECM off and dial tone detection off in service mode as well. There are also settings to enable in the Grandstream and phone system.

WIthout T.38, it will probably work most of the time but randomly there will be blank pages, missing pages, or just failure messages. There is no way to fix that since VoIP and fax just...don't mix.

Konica has an option for VoIP lines in the fax settings. This setting is for VoIP lines without T.38. To make it show up set dip switch 237 to hex 20. When this option is enabled it makes the machine fail less on VoIP lines without T.38.

Update, The customer called and said they are receiving faxes. So not sending is the issue. When I've seen new fax installs receiving but not sending it was always the country code was wrong but I always setup by the book, country code & initialization. Thanks again for the help

That's an HT801. The 2 line version is an HT802. That's the model we are using. Works great with T.38 when configured.

connect an analog telephone and press * * * and than 2. It will let you hear the IP address use this IP to login and program the device.

Just wanted to update. Ended up using the reset button on the Grandstream device and both RX/TX is now working. Thanks again for the help.
