[Misc] C224 version 1 no update firmware

I have several machines where it is impossible to update the firmware.
I follow the procedure described in the service manual, (Bizhub 4 Series FW update procedure using USB memory stick V2),
but the firmware loading screen does not appear, and the machine ends up starting normally.

The only strange thing that I have noticed in these machines is that in all the MFP Card Version it is blank.

Is it the C224, or the C224e? I'm guessing by "version 1" you mean the original C224 and not the "e" model?

On the "e" models, there was an SSD Tool that contained a special test for the SSD board. If the board passed the test, it would update the SSD to a newer firmware version. This newer firmware was needed in order to properly update to the later firmware versions for the whole copier.

I don't know of anything like this for the straight Cxx4 models. Tsbservice has a good point. I'm not sure why it works, but I've also come across some machines in that model range that will only update firmware if you leave the front access door open.

I trust you are using the service USB slot? (RHS one screw slide small cover up)

Also try a few other USB pen drives these older models can be 'fussy' on what type you use.

only time ive seen firmware version not show is if you set software switch 25 to a function level that the current firmware doesnt support

Yes, I have tried, it gives firmware error

I can't remember for sure - does this model have a photosensor to detect whether the service USB port is open? I had one a long time ago where the photosensor was unplugged so the machine never enabled the service port.

software switch Switch NO.: 25 HEX Assignment: 00

The firmware you are trying to install (A1610Y0-F000-GB4-A9) is Function Version 7. Switch 25 should be a HEX of 60 for that firmware.

On top of that, that appears to be version up firmware, which has a procedure all it's own. I can't find specific instructions for that exact firmware, the only one I can find the procedure for is GB0-A9, which is also a version up firmware.
