8 series Drums have a tendency to soil the sponge roller that cleans the primary charge roller when printing a lot of prints (like a 1000 or more) with a normal 1 inch solid blue banner at the top of the copy. Once that sponge roller is soiled with a blue band, the cyan drum must be replaced as cleaning the sponge roller does not seem to resolve the issue. We only use oem toner and drums. All parts are current, none overdue. Most recent FW installed.
I adjusted the Cyan TCR down to -2 but did not stop the cyan drum from failing early when printing large amounts of copies with a blue banner. Normal printing without a blue banner does not cause the cyan drum to soil the sponge roller or fail early due to blue streaks or blue stripes , regardless of extremely large copy runs. Apparently, the drum cleaning cannot keep up with large runs of a portion of the document with a solid color banner. Printing docs with a banner causes no issues with drum life if it done once in a while, only on large consistant runs.
Any suggestions apppreciated.
