1i series not recognising Authentication device

Hi guys, I have issues with this 1i series which I installed the loadable device driver, the correct one, I enabled the y-soft card reader but it's not recognising the card reader, I've used the same type of card readers on 0i series and few 1i series it works perfectly fine only this time I came across this issue, where I installed loadable device driver, enabled card reader and got this error message "unable to connect to authentication device. Check the connection and turn the power off and on. "

when you turn on the machine with the card connector plugged in, does the card reader light up. if not, when you plug the card reader into your PC does the card reader light up, have you tried the card reader on another machine . I've had an out of box failure on a card reader previously. Have you got the Ysoft card reader tool, on your PC, it's also handy to use to program card readers for different protocols
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

      Hi kingarthur
Card reader light up and I test by scanning radom ID card it bips but it gives the error message stated above, I also tried changing the loadable device driver, rest machine still got the error on 2x c551i and 2x c251i machines.
Are there any steps that I missed?
Also the printers are newly installed, I did run up install and at the same time load the loadable device driver and enabled the authentication device in the service mode, and got the error message

Are you using ".LDD_IT6_AA2J0Y0-A521-G00-40_Y-soft.exe " as your LDD driver. Normally you load up the driver to the device, reboot it, plug in the card reader, then tell it to use the card reader, in service mode and then reboot again. There is more than one Ysoft card reader, though, as far as I know, it's the same driver. However, there is more than 1 type of card, and you may have to change the protocol of the card reader to match the card. Out of interest, are you using cards or fobs. There's also a bulletin about authentication errors on API application managed devices, there's a special FW "GG2-RF"

          Have you tried another CR?
What FW ver is machine and what's your loadable driver version?

              You need LDD_IT6_AA2J0Y0-A521-G00-40_Y-soft yes.
Version 20 isn't firmware but function version.
Latest FW needs Switch No.: 25 HEX Assignment: 40 -> Function Version 2.3

As per my previous post, which card reader are you using, is it compatible with the cards you are trying to use - you may need to change the protocol on the reader....are you using cards, tags, fobs or RFID discs. Can you post a photo of the message that you are getting

Hi kingarthur my bad, I didn't reply to your post
I am using Ysoft card readers and it is compatible, I have been using them for quite a few machines now and it works perfectly fine.
In the case of RFID card reader, I didn't come to the stage of ID cards registration, the error message appears after I installed LDD mentioned in my previous post and enabled the authentication device rebooted device each time, after ready screen appear I got the error message "unable to connect to authentication device" the card reader lights up fine as I said even the LDD is the right one.

Did I miss something or any step? Please enlighten me. Thank you for your assistance

Yes I did used the LDD mention, plus switch no:25 hex assignment :40, I just confirm and it was the one you mentioned so I think it's the latest Firmware also the machine is newly installed at the same time I installed loadable device driver and enabled authentication device.
Did I do something wrong along the way?
                    Thank you in advance.

The LDD_IT6_AA2J0Y0-A521-G00-40 is not the FW, it's the driver for the car reader. The quickest way to find out what FW/FV the device is on, press "Utility" on the main screen, then "Device Info"

Exactly it's the driver for the card reader, I put it out to explain that I used this LDD which is the correct one but still got the error message. Sorry for the confusion. I know it's not a firmware, but I didnt get the firmware, I only got the function version, which I stated earlier

Which is why I'm asking what FW and FV does the machine currently have.

If the reader is a keybaord wedge, you may need to download. LDD IT6_AA2J0Y0-A031-G00-41_KeyboardEmu_YSoft.zip

When the reader is plugged into the MFP and you go to admin mode, does it think there is a keyboard attached? If so, it is a keyboard reader.

Not good to not have FW version in device info.
You can check it always via web interface or service mode. So the question is which firmware version?
BTW you are doing good job but seems you missed some basic things/training. Not necessarily your fault I mean 😀
