i series warped registration units various jam codes 9901 2001 3003

Anyone else seeing this? We've had two i series copiers in the last week with this issue. A 360i with 15k and a C300i with 60k.
Symptoms are 9901 jams with incorrect paper size and type message, also 2001 and 3003 jams.
The first one we had we put a new registration clutch in at first, but when that didn't fix it we went to swap out the whole reg unit and noticed it was warped pretty bad in the middle. Swapping out the reg unit solved all of the issues.
If you look at the picture, you can see it is bowed up higher in the middle.
If this is normal with these machines and there is something else we can do to fix this issue, please let me know.

Interesting if they were bend from new or developed this through the exploitation. Sorry I can't be of help with this issue but will follow up your thread and btw thanks for picture.

Not on the i-series, but on the bizhub C364e series, I've seen feed units warped in this way. The warp caused the feed and separation rollers to meet at an angle, causing jams, skew, and dog-eared corners. I was able to make a couple of them work by removing the metal reinforcing plate and putting a reverse bend into it, to pull the unit closer to straight. Does that make sense? I don't know if that would work on the registration unit.

      Good catch. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes, have had this 1 time on a brand-new machine out of the box, replaced complete assembly then saw the massive warp.

That was quite some time ago now.

This is just another issue added to the list of why I'm trying to keep my customers away from the new "i" series and for them to stay with their current "8" series or even their "4" series!

If Kon/Min don't Re-design future machines it will be their demise. My customers already have bad feeling with Kon/Min for what they did to them with the toner shortage lasting almost a year! If not for the "4" & "8" series being such trouble free machines they would of already switched to Canon or another OEM because of the toner fiasco.

          Just one old technicians opinion.....

Print quality is miles better on the older engines too. People want to pay as little as possible for the machines though, so this is the end result.

I saw an old c452 recently on a minesite full of dust, still working and was shocked at how such an old piece of crap still prints 1000x better than anything made today.

Check that paper guide plate where shoulder screw and earth plate are the screw hole is intact.

Nice quality control - imagine KM would develop and manufacture airplaines LOL
