    Re: Accuriopress C4070 - IC-609-Connection issue(controller unconnected)

wait, i think there is a bit switch or something to re-enable the hdd after a format or something.
    lemme look.

    Problem
Unable to print or controller not recognized with the IC-610/IC609/IC-607 after formatting the HDD.

    Solution
CAUSE: Version mismatch between Controller firmware (P) and Engine firmware (C,I,W)

SOLUTION: Downgrade "Engine" firmware (C,I,W) to the matching older version of "Controller" firmware (P) then upgrade firmware following either upgrade method below:

    1. Use "Package ISW" to apply the latest version of "Controller" (P) and "Engine" (C,I,W) firmware at the same time.

    2. Use "USB Memory ISW" to individually update "Controller" (P) and "Engine" (C,I,W) firmware. (Order of firmware install does not matter)
Note: Be sure to update each firmware to the latest level before rebooting machine.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

Initially, the machine had g00 20, so I downloaded and downgraded the firmware to g00 20, but there was no sign of a connection, then I tried the controller recovery option DIPSW 4.0 t0 1 but it was the same result, then upgraded to g00 30 still no change.

what I noticed is whenever we turn on the controller there is a beep sound 3 times as if it has some error on the boot screen, but the controller does not have the monitor option to look at the boot screen, so couldn't identify the issue.

id pop off the controller cover just to make sure the CPU heatsink is firmly mounted and both HDDs are spinning up.

All this has been done from the beginning, in fact, the controller cover is still open, today I even reformatted HDD to RAW and installed and tested it,

As I said earlier if I could connect a monitor to this controller we can see the exact issue. because the beep sound from the controller while restarting is not normal

            Re: Accuriopress C4070 - IC-609-Connection issue(controller unconnected)

RAW is not partitioned or formatted, i dont have access to the 609 service manual.
not sure what steps need to be done upon replacement of HDD.
i found this though, dunno if it would help?

CAUSE: IC609 is enabled during update process.
            SOLUTION: Perform the following.
            1. Set DIPSW 40-7 = 0.
            2. Reboot the engine and the controller.
            3. Update the IC609 package P0 per the service manual instructions and DLBT file associated with the
            respective FW you are loading.
Note: This specific ISW download error is not located within the service manual.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

As the machine was down for more then 3 weeks customer reached out to another technician who asked him to format the HDD using the computer, which they did it without my knowledge, when I went back they told me.
also I repeated this several times, it wasnโ€™t coming up, would like to know if there anyway of connecting monitors to the controller to see the boot screen.
KM has not developed a way for us to correctly partition a new drive. The recommended way of getting a clean, working drive is by ordering it from the KM Parts dept, they will send it pre-formatted. Now that you have formatted drive 1 from the controller using a computer, you've probably lost all the partitions, it's going to be useless for you.

We have also figured out that if you have a working Drive 1, you can perform a drive clone to another drive, thus eliminating the need to purchase expensive drives from KM. But you definitely can not take the drive out and format it from a computer, that's not going to work.

When you use the HDD Format options in the controller service mode, it's only formatting specific partitions of the drive. The firmware rewrites the software on those partitions, but at no point in time does the engine or firmware re-write the partitions sadly.

Circling back to the cabling. You may or may not be aware but the Display Port cable (Labelled 5) has an end with some orange tape close to the connector. In the set up instructions, KM states that the end with the orange tape is the end that plugs into the engine (VIF1 port) and the other end goes into the controller.

Also double check in service mode > system setting, that DIPSW 40-7 is set to ON(1)

Edit: I wanted to add, that if you are trying to install firmware on the KM Controller, make sure that you are using the correct ENGINE version. Example.. The IC-609 can go on a C4080 series OR a C7100 series. I saw someone post the C4080 series of firmware, so you should be ok with that. This message is basically for anyone in the future trying to troubleshoot this controller. But the IC-609 firmware is different for the C7100 versus the C4080 series machines so make sure you have the correct version of KM controller firmware.

Finally, when you are upgrading the IC-609, the firmware USB needs to be plugged directly into the controller itself and NOT in the engine or it will not register. KM suggests you upgrade the KM controller (P-Firmware) and then the Engine firmware (I-Firmware) at the same time so that they match. You will need two USB's in this scenario. One with the P firmware plugged into the controller directly and second USB with the engine firmware plugged directly into the engine. Perform the controller (P) firmware update and then instead of clicking END, select CONTINUE and then do the I-package firmware for the engine.

I am facing same problem in my C4070 with IC-609.
                  What is the final solution?
