Old BH-C-280/360 cannot print .doc and .docx files from an external memory like an USB-Stick? Does it need an upgrade or what?
Hans
Can't remember if the C220 series had this setting like the C224 series. Admin mode and turn on the external USB options? Think there are 3 options, save doc to USB, print from USB, and one more?
If you already did that then look for a security setting or soft switch?
Thanks, my question was a little fuzzy. Customer can use external memory USB-Stick in the port beside the control panel. The machine recognizes PDF, JPG, TIFF but not doc, docx and not BMP.

Stick is only 1GB large (small)
Hans
Your template does not print the desired extensions.

I figured you knew about that setting. Sorry I can't be more help but that is really strange. I'm sure someone else will have an answer.
its too damn old.
docx came out in 2007, the copier series is 2009 and they barely caught up with the technology of the day.
i searched the firmware library and nothing addresses the addition of the M$ office extensions.
file compression was the hot item back then like compact pdf and such.
security of the era you barely needed a password for email.
my simple fix used to be a crappy laptop hooked to the USB port and users would use the USB on the laptop to print their portable files.
fwiw i checked a few service manuals from the 0, 1, 2 and 3 series and did not find a reference to docx anywhere until the 4 series.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
The medication helps though...
Hans I'm sorry to bother you and C280/360 and bh363 are very good and reliable machines one of best KM made but you really have to start thinking of upgrade them to something modern.
I know it is pita and new models are not exactly what they should be(least to say) but technology is relentless.
Of course if your business model is solely based on old reliable cheap workhorses please accept my sincere apologies and ignore my last reply.

You are completely right. But those are rentals running extremely well, making good money every month. I have a zillion parts and supplies for it in stock and as long as the customer is not asking for "better" or higher security, why should I change......?

Hans, I agree with you with keeping the old models as long as possible. If your customers are ok with them and a few minor issues stick with them. Especially with rentals.
I still have a few C220 series and many "4" series in operation. Since new F/W came out last year for the 4 series and now no issues with scanning to email or SMB I will stay with them as long as possible. My customers love them and appreciate that consumables are turned off and last way past rated life!
I also have upgraded several "4" series to the "8" series. Hoping to ride these 2 models out until retirement in a few years. Only have a few "i" series with customers that wanted brand new machines. Keeping my fingers crossed with these new models.
Feel like we should have a running list of what the C220/280s can't do now thats normal operation stuff now. Would be a good resource for those of us considering buying old like I did. I didn't know I couldn't print doc or docx, not really a deal breaker for me, but good to know.

Thank you for being with me, supporting me with my gerontological experiments. After reading your post, I feel a little less archaic. LOL
When I see here in the panel how colleagues are fighting with those “Latest & Greatest” i-Series and beside of this every month good money is coming in with very little efforts and costs, I still feel happy with it.
I'm an Indy and basically a tech. I do not have a salesman at my side pushing me for new equipment, for the fear of otherwise losing the dealership of Konica Minolta and/or generating commission for the sales.
