    "Cursed" Machine

I dont need any help ith this but it is still funny
I cant believe how stupid we are.

So customer had a c368 at his office. There was construction going on for about 3 months on the other side of the wall.
Last Week they called us saying the machine makes squeaking noises. We showed up for lunch time and did not manage to hear anything unusual. A Day later they called us again, this time we showed up in the early afternoon. Again, no squeaking whatsoever. This went on for a few more days until we heard the noise ourselves. It was kind of impossible to figure out whch part does it. First we changed the Fusing Unit but the squeaking continued. We changed just about every moving part before chaning the entire machine. Had no squeaking noise until we were about to leave. The Second we went thorugh the door, the squeaking returned and the customer was printing at the same time. My colleauge was at the Door 3 storys lower than me and he told me he heard the squeaking there. We both went out the door to the construction site and found out that the squeking noise came from one of their machines. We are just lucky enough to always hear the noise when the customer prints and the construction workers used their machines.
    I HATE IT

This reminds me of a KIP I had to go to, it was "squeaking" couldn't get it to go wrong, until one day, it was near their back door, which was open, I shut the door and the "squeaking" stopped, it was the birds twittering, the could only hear them when they went to the machine.....
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

I had a Sharp Tiger that the customer claimed was squeaking.

There are a lot of things that can squeak in a Tiger. After an hour of chasing my tail, I turned the machine Off and unplugged it. Then the heat came On. The squirrelcage blower for the furnaces was squeaking.

I called the customer over and asked: "Is that the noise?" "Yes! What can we do about it!"

I held up the unplugged power cord & said: "Call the furnace repair. It's the squirrelcage fan in the furnace."

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Was thinking today if it could be possible to play squeaky noises thru the fax speaker just to mess with people. Must make like an old rusty park swing back and forth creaking noise every time it prints.

        I hate noise calls.
        Whatever

I had one that after an hour, turned out to be the bathroom door on the other side of the wall. Maintenance lubed the hinges, customer thought I fixed it.

Usually, if we get a noise call for a customer with a 2 years old machine we just bringt a new fusing unit. Does the job 9/10 times and we get a fusing unit for parts or fix the squeaiking noise in our workshop to sell it s a used part to customers who want to save a few bucks

This sounds great and very evil at the same time. You like to watch your fellow techs scratching their heads until they bleed it seems

If its got aux cleaning gear on the fuser I just remove that and the rust it leaves behind and it will go another couple 100K.

Allan do you have a picture of that gear?

It happened to me with a table, after a long time looking for the noise I put the machine on the floor and it stopped doing it.

Apologies for the confusion by gear I mean al the parts forming the cleaning section.
The fuser starts squeaking due to wear on the bushings allowing metal on metal contact.
I see on the newer machines like the 750i, the cleaning parts are removed and the fuser belt now does not seem to last very long.

Reminds me of the magic color and C10 days. That machine will loosen the screws on any desk or table.

Nice story, I had a customer complaining about electric/fuzzy noises. First I unplugged the MFP and the noise was still there, second I turned out the office lights a voila - noises disappeared. Finally it was one of the neon segment-lights in the ceiling.

Yeah i also thought it comes from another source first, because i was not able to locate the noise as it seemed to come from a new direction everytime you heard it. Also it was such a stroke of bad luck because the workers never used the machine when i unplugged the MFP. I still believe someone made a hidden camera prank on me
