    C2070 Excessive Misting

Looks like its coming from the drums.

We run alot of low toner coverage, but seems to keep happening.

All waste ports looks clear, all parts and consumables are original.

What grounds should we be looking at?
Dont see any real issues jumping out at me.

But 500 Pages we get alot of toner misting.
If a suction fan was faulty it would trip a code?

    any expertise would help...

Does this customer run primarily black on long runs, or very low fill color?

I have found that each time the machine self calibrates, it adds some toner. and if you're not consuming any color toner (or very small amounts) the developer will start to overtone.

I don't quite remember where I came across this, but there is a function that increases the number of calibration patches between copies. There are several possible benefits to this function:
*If your primary transfer belt blade is not getting enough toner to properly lubricate, this function provides more toner.
*If you're running very low fill, or primarily black, it provides better lubrication for the drum blades and transfer cleaning blade. It also consumes some of that excess toner that is added early in the calibration process, before the developer reaches peak agitation.

I'm not sure if these settings will execute exactly the same way on the C2070, it was a C1060 that I was working on, but here is the database entry:
"C2456" error message. Enduser has run 35,000 B&W only, light fill images in the last few days. Magenta developer reads overtoned. To check toner density: service mode > Process Adjustment > Sensor Output Confirm > Toner Density Sensor Output > select CMYK > Start > preferred reading 29650 to 29850 (30010 is too high). Intended to lubricate the primary transfer cleaning blade, create exit toner band. Set the following DIPSW: 1.5% band 44-5>0, 44-6>1; 3% band K only 49-6>0, 49-7>1; create exit toner band 59-6>1; retracts 2nd transfer during band creation 59-7>1; always create exit toner band 59-2>1, 59-3>1. Some of these setting may be redundant.

Naturally, this is going to consume some of the toner before it dusts your patch sensors. That's a good thing. It would be even better if they ran heavier fill color images, but we can't really tell the customer what to run. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

What are the counts for the developing units and developer? Also important to replace that toner filter box on schedule.

Dv and dv units just done.

yes we run low toner jobs.
caused a icp to blow on printer control board.

replaced black sub toner hopper and printer control board. Been good since but still misting.

Circling back to this as I've been having the same issue with my C2070. Have yet to replace the filter box, but have one on order. Did you try blackcat's suggestion and did it help? The amount of misting I'm getting is crazy. Regularly find piles of toner behind the drums. Replaced DV units and drums not too long ago.
