Difference of firmware between "Special Program" and "Mass-Production Program

I have a C250i that has a special firmware (AA2J0Y0-F000-GC2-G4). I wonder if the latest Mass-Production Program G00-Q6 MSG99 will also fit?


An additional question: Can someone explain to me the meaning of "without Memory Board".

the storage board is mounted to the CPU board, if there is a card its slid in the back of the CPU board instead of a emmc storage board on the front.
a memory board is when there is no storage board. its SD

If you are only doing C250i you will not have to worry about the With or W/O memory boards. I see no issues with the special firmware but that is old special FW so I would still step it up with M2,N4,N5,P8, then Q6 my preference. Special firmware is released to fix an issue like "paper cut generates E301 error when using ID badge". It would not usually be something you would want to add to your machine. Mass updates fix issues found with the machine itself, like toner level won't reset to 100% after new bottle is installed, security holes, add features like PDF/A. Some of the fixes are not applied unless the function version is updated as well. Function version updates may also require new print drivers, new device drivers like card readers, and may make some features with weak security stop working. You should download the PDF that explains all of this prior to updating firmware. E

Is it also possible to tell from the serial number of the C250i whether a board is installed? Can I draw the conclusion from my current firmware (without the addition of "without board" in the title) that I have a board?


What surprises me is that since the last version with a board, there have been another 9 firmware updates. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

There are various colored dots next to the S/n that indicate that a major part was changed after a certain S/N. This is common when a manufacture changes. Common items like scanner boards and processors require a particular f/w version.
