    C224e color print problem

    Hello,

One customer reported color printing problem, the sample have full page solid yellow, B/W printing is OK.
    Abort code P8, P21, P28 displayed, a layer of yellow toner on drum Y, TCR( Y ) is 0.00%.
Exchanged with drum M or C, same result.
Would be the problem on developing unit Y or HV unit?

well TCR is the developing unit i would of started there. i would be curious to see the problem as far as color issue. Go to service mode test mode and print half tones. Select C-M-Y-K then hit start what does each color look like. p8 refers to yellow drum i believe but a density issue. no yellow would cause that. p21 refers to i believe the pattern edge which could be same issue but not 100 percent p28 off the topp of my head not sure but look at your y developer

What is machine total count? Consumable life counters?

Your issue is most likely the yellow dev unit lost developer. This usually happens from over life consumables. I would start with new yellow drum and add aftermarket developer powder to yellow dev unit to bring level back to 6%. Or replace complete dev unit with good one from another machine or new one.

can you do a background data reset and stabilize then full sets of gradations?
that has fixed background issues for me in the past.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
        The medication helps though...

If you get solid color output (or even thick vertival bar) of one color that means there's no grid charge apllied on drum or developing charge applied on magnet roller or even both together.

Toner will be depleted soon and dev unit will be left with developer only.

First you pull out Y de unit and inspect brush on magnet roller. Magnet roller should be covered with developer.
It is OK if it is dark (almost black) - there's no Y toner.
Just confirm that magnet roller is fully covered with developer.
With drum and dev. unit out, check the contacts (springs) at the back of machine (where the back of the drum and dev unit fits). There are seals there (which are definetly old) and may fall apart and siol the contacts.

Next step is HV board. Clean the contacts and refit it carefuly. Make sure that eache spring touches both wires.
          Particulary pay attention to Y.
It would be great if you have another machine and exchange HV to test in both ways.

Between HV board there are contacts (wires) leading to dev unit and drum. You should inspect them also.

          Enjoy the work!
