    Re: c364e suddenly power cycling

I am wondering if my firmware files are corrupt or missing something. Or, if the SSD I got is also bad. Or if something else is bad.
I tried two different 2 GB flash drives, I tried them formatted as FAT32 and FAT, and the machine just sits on the shark fins. The flash drive activity light flashes a few times, then stops.

Does anyone have firmware I could try?

if boards were swapped from another unit this happens, firmware model tag not matching hardware in the unit. backup image not passing id test. used not blank ssd.

id tags are in three boards ssd, mfp and printer driver. if two of these do not match firmware will not load, two matches and 1 blank. ive also seen fw load on two blank boards with a good ssd.

                Re: c364e suddenly power cycling

Update: It actually works - I had to run the Initialization step again, for some reason it didn't actually do it the first time. I'm a leaving the rest of the post in case anyone has other input

My SSD finally came today. It clearly resolves the restarting issue, so maybe a step forward, but maybe not...

It does not have the white dot on the chip (referenced by the service bulletin which I managed to get a copy of), so it is clearly not new, but I tried to install the
                Code:
                A5C10Y0-F000-G00-A9-04--SSD-FW-Ver6.03m
package and the copier said that
                Code:
                6.05m
                was already installed.

                I then installed the
                Code:
                A5C10Y0-F000-GDT-M1(00)
firmware which I believe from the firmware files I have access to is the newest.

Once the system rebooted, it showed a
                Code:
                C-D3A0
error, which I see in the service manual means that there is a usage counter on the board that doesn't match. I tried
                Code:
[System 1] -> [Initialization] -> [Clear All Data]
which I saw could resolve that issue, but it doesn't change anything and I guess it means the SSD was used or I messed something up when I installed the firmware.

Is there anything else I should look at or should I return this SSD and keep looking for a new one?
I contacted all the local certified companies and almost none of them got back to me (although several of them added me to their marketing mailing lists) and the one that did get back to me said they don't service this model and won't order the part from KM either.

Firmware version pictures from service mode: New SSD - Google Photos

(Interestingly, the serial number of this machine is listed in the service bulletin as unlikely to have an SSD problem even without updates.)

i never suggest this however in this case it may be the only way to use the current parts.
id try the mfp reset tool 3 times and hopefully when finally rebooted the restore button will be present and apply the mfpb meters to the SSD.
                  ill send it to ya.

                  The medication helps though...

Thanks Synthohol - sorry if I wasn't clear, but I was able to get it working. It looks like the first time I ran the Clear All data operation it didn't actually complete properly, but I ran it a second time and everything is working now.

I have made another donation to the site in honor of everyone who helped me.
