    C458 rainbow effect scanning

I have a C458 machine, print fine but all the scans has a rainbow on them, or whatever you call it, see pic.

I have cleaned the glass, run a non-image, gets several na1 but one ok but did not do anything.

a to d converter on ccd board, small chance it could be ram (scans are stored from the top of memory down). did you do anything to it recently ? the image looks digital but I can't tell for sure from the image posted.

looks digital indeed, if re-seating the CCD cable won't help I'd probably swap the CCD, perhaps you can borrow one from a donator.

I agree with this one. Konica Minolta CCDs that do very long scan runs are well known for failing on the 654e series, and 808 series. Usually they store errors that auto-reset, but come back more & more frequently. Try re-seating the cable first, then the CCD.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
