We have a customer with a Bizhub C353 which is repeating images on ledger paper. If I copy a letter original onto ledger paper, the image is repeated starting about seven inches from the lead edge. All four colors are effected, so it's not a single I.U. If I set paper type for thick 1, it doesn't repeat, so I suspected the fuser, but a new fuser didn't fix it. I tried changing transfer settings in both directions, and tried turning fuser temps up and down, with no result. Anyone seen this before?

The problem is not your belt.
Your first clue would be the fuser, since you admitted to setting to thick 1 and the problem went away.
Are you printing to thick paper? Anything heavier than 24lb should be set to one of the 4 available thick settings (bypass tray) or 3 thick settings on all other trays.
Plain paper = 15 - 24lb
Thick 1 = 24 - 40lb
Thick 2 = 41 - 55lb
Thick 3 = 56 - 68lb
Thick 4 = 69 - 80lb
Keep in mind that the machine should give an abnormal low C-code if the fuser was at fault."Many years ago I chased a woman for almost two years, only to discover that her tastes were exactly like mine: we both were crazy about girls."

I'd be inclined to agree with Stirton.M! 7inches from lead edge till start of offset image? Thats WAY too short a pitch for one of those transfer belts!! I'd be heading for the fuser too!
Regards!

Oh yes, as a side note, I've seen dirty print on a linen bond that felt like 20 odd pound paper but wouldnt run clean unless it was set @ thick 1. (c352 series tho) On plain paper.. clean print... the linen stuff.. not so much!Comment

Replacing the 2nd transfer roller would change pressue and bias that is being applied to the belt. Was the ghost image from the same page, or could it have been from the previous page? In which case the distance would be in spec for the belt as indiacated earlier. If problem returns.... Replace the belt.sigpicComment

Heres a twist, i just got a call on friday of last week for a c353 doing what sounds like the exact same issue as the the thread opener here! I'm going in today to have a look-see, and brought both a 2nd xfer roller and a fuser with me, the customer can replicate it faithfully too. So since the second xfer resolved it here, I'll try that first and post the results here. I've seen second transfer do weird things before but nothing quite like fuser type offset images! We shall see. to be continued!
