Bizhub 420 jamming on duplexed copies

I have a BZ 420 that jams on double sided copies. The jam code is j-3000. Jams from tray 3 only out of tray 1 and 2 runs fine. it will run about 300 before it jams

this is what i have replaced already:

registration unit
registration clutch
prcb(main board)
toner supply unit
duplex clutches
paper feed rollers tray 3
vertical transport clutch

I am all out of ideas, and hoping someone can help. thanks

Try swapping the position of the 2 duplex clutches, then see if the jam # and jam looks different.

That looks ldentical to the jams we got battling duplex clutches. A bad clutch in 1 position would give us J30s in the other position would give J92s.

You can watch the duplex copies through the grates in the side door.

there are 2 clutches in that registration area. almost touching each other. Did you replace both?

Yes both were replaced

replace both clutches in the duplex...its a known problem for which KM sent a bulletin, the grease is getting into the clutches & causing them to bind, bet it only happens on 3 copies or more

I dont know if you guys saw in the parts that were replaced that the duplex clutches were replaced. The whole duplexer was replaced today along witht the registration clutch and loop clutch. Any other ideas anyone?

If it works o.k. on 1-1 & only jams during duplex... I would still try to swap the 2 adu clutches and look for a change in jams.

Watch the paper through the adu slats, you can see normal andwhen problems start.

Check and mess around with the ADU loop setting and see if anything changes (record original values)

Well if it only jams from one tray, there should not be a problem with the duplex. It has to be an issue with the third tray takeup section itself IMO.

Cantechman, i agree with you on it being a third drawer problem. we have replaced the rollersand one way clutches, we have taken an assembly from a working unit, and have replaced the motors on the cabinet. it will run about 300 copies then jam sometimes we can get 400 out of it and the lowesr amount was 100, before it would jam.

okay, help us help you. What are the jam codes? Is it pulling 2 sheets of paper from tray 3? There is a mod on tray 3 Feed and sep.

the jam code is j-3000. That is it. no it is not pulling multiple sheets out of tray 3. what else would you like to know. Can you tell me about this mod for tray 3?
