[Misc] Konica 7222/7235 series dev units

    Hi Fellas -

First time postee here, having defected from Smarka (haha!). Been 'lurking' for a while and now it's time I made a move.

Just after a bit of experience here - we've been playing around with developer units swapping between Konica 7222/7228/7235 and 7145.

According to the manual - although there are different devs and toners, the dev unit is the same. This is held out on the precision site which has a single part number for dev units for the four machines.

Has anyone successfully swapped between the different models?

We had a problem with a 7222 refurb going undertoned and it had a dev unit in it with a different pin configuration than the ones in the workshop. Checking previous series machines (7020/7022 etc) the dev units look similar but have different pin configs for the toner density sensor.

It may be that as we are only a secondhand dealer and don't know the history of most of our machines, some joker had changed the unit in the past for the wrong type, and just fluked no error codes.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks,

    MAX

I don't know it this is pertinent, but years back Mita used the same developing units in both the DC-1205/1255 and DC-1405/1435. The only practical difference is that the connector was rotated 180 degrees and remounted. Just for kicks, check to see if that connector has just been rotated.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

the atdc sensor is different, unit may be the same dv unit but you will have to change the sensor

In the huge parts PDF it shows:
          7020/7025/7030 7022/7130 7035 7135 7145 7222/7228/7235 bizhub 360 bizhub 361 bizhub 420/500
bizhub 421 bizhub 501 all use the same TDS. Toner and developer are indeed different.

The 26NA88041 is the latest part # for TDS.

We buy the 7145 developing units and use the connector mounted to the metal bracket from the old outgoing developing unit onto the new one.

I think there are 2-3 different part #s for these connectors used.

Excellent input from all - many thanks guys.

We found that Konica had also used 'female' sockets to these plugs with just the correct number of pins installed, so if in doubt we have been able to check we have the right dev unit by looking at the socket in the machine and confirming we have the same pin configuration on the dev unit.

Nice to see that so many of these replies are the 'thinking outside the box' variety that involves trying alternatives rather than just swapping out parts straight out of the manual.

It turns out that the dev unit wasn't the right one and had the wrong pin configuration. Amazing it had worked for so long without giving us an error.

            Thanks again.

Concur its the harness/connector not the tds sensor that is different. Confirmed this myself!

              Regards!
