[CQ] C6500/C6501 and the C7000 Drum

Getting the black spot on drum unit issue that has been discussed on here for a few years now.

Has anyone in the UK/Europe had any success with the suggested use of the DU-104 drum in the C6500/C6501?

There appears to be nothing in the TAD/TNI here in the UK but there has been mention on another thread that KM have released something in other market(s)?

We tried the 7000 drums in 2 c6500's a couple of monthes ago and have never went back. No more black spots and the drums last on average twice as long as the 6500 drum. Have not noticed any difference in print quality other than they do not wear out as fast as the others as they should not because they are rated for more sheets. Since then all the c6500's in our area have been switched to the c7000 drums and we are now trying the c7000 chargers in 6500's. They also seem to last alot longer but its not as much of a game changer as switching the drums is.

I agree totally with you, the drums last for a lot longer and the quality certainly holds up. I dont have any 7000 s but use 6501 chargers and 7000 drums in all my 6500`s and have seen no adverse effects at all. It certainly helps with with streamlining car stock holdings!!
Now if only they would make a decent fuser!!!!

DU-104 drum is a 100% fix for spotting on black and yellow - experience with 40 machines with the symptom.

Thanks for the info guys. I have tried the DU-104 in a few problem machines and the spots have not returned.

            Cheers

the drum of the 7000 series can be mounted on 6501 and I have no problems with quality and the bottom copy.

Just a note don't forget to instal the special firmware on your 6500/6501, if you use the DU-104 Drums; Version GMZ-60

That firmware is useful only if you are replacing the cleaning blade from DU104 to DU102. As already said here and on another topics on this subject, I cannot see why you would replace only the cleaning blade. Experience in field until now shows that DU104 works great on C6500/6501 without any additional firmware. End of story.

I think it's best to change all the dr104 works best and most straight forward, changing the blade is not enough to eliminate the problems of durability and quality copy. Before making a judgment check my FTP for firmware

Yep, I can confirm, the DU-104 works just fine on the C6500/C6501. No spots on them, no error codes, good quality, etc etc
I don't help end-users. Hate me, give me bad reputation, I don't give a rat's a**. Pay a tehnician to solve your problem! We have to live too! What do you do when something hurts? Do you go to a doctor, or do you search it on google/ forums?

This thread is 6 month old, I think meantime everyone find the solution.

PS: I won't mind a new car too, can I pick the model?
