Bizhub600 versus Di-450

We have several rental contracts with Di-450 equipped with Pi-5500 and FN-105 multiple tacker/puncher finisher in the field.

Since those machines are getting really old now we are looking for an alternative and we are considering the Bizhub 600 cause of the higher speed.

Question: Is the Bizhub 600 a good alternative to the Di-450+Fiery Pi-5500 + the FN-105?

Any known issues with the BH600?

developer tends to wear out quicly on the 600 family of copirers. it can be overcome by training users to replace toner when asked for. and some easy mods to the developer unit. the engine is built solidly and will stand up to most common abuses delt ot by customers.

I've had slightly better luck with the 601's than the 600's, if they are available to you. I've read a lot of posts about the devmix dumping issue on the 600 family, but my experience has been pretty good with them. With that being said, I was dealing with the 7272 and Di750's before this, so anything looks like an improvement.

The biz600 family does have a bit of an issue with precipitating developer onto the transfer corona, but it is definitely manageable. These machines work a lot better when kept clean: control the paper dust and dev mix that is floating around inside the machine and you will be rewarded.

It's tough though...I still have several Di450/470's in the field and absolutely love them. Yes, they are old. Yes, the nic/print controller is crap. But dammit, they just run. I have those machines in the most abusive environments, with the most abusive users, and they still pass paper like champs. I haven't encountered a recent Konica/Minolta/Konicaminolta copier that can truly compare.

To tell the truth, I'm not so great at identifying "Konica" or "Minolta"-style designs. I'd actually call it a hybrid of legacy Konica, mixed with a little bit of Minolta. Predominantly Konica, though, complete with problematic toner-recycle system.

The Di551, Di5510, BH600 and BH601 are konica designed machines. With no ATDC sensor it is almost impossible to keep the T/C ratio at optimum. They all start to over tone less than half way through a PM. When they start to over tone, and they will, run about 50 skyshots and run drum peculiarity and that will keep it under control for awhile. They are CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!! The best copy it will make is the one right after a PM.
That being said, they work best in a high volume environment, it gives the machine less time to mess with the T/C ratio I think. lol
Sorry for the rant. In case it isn't obvious, I really don't like these machines.

The 600's may have a few issues, but are really great machines compared to a 450.

Sorry fixthecopier, I have to disagree. If I was given the choice between a Di550 and BH600 I would take the Di550 every time. If they aren't overtoning and dumping toner they are puking Dev and ruining the fuser. Can't even make the sep roller last any more than 30k before it is flat on one side. These were a bad design with the Di551 and should have been trashed before the Di5510.

I hated the konica machines before the "merge". Took me a while but the Konica's grew on me. I have several di-5510/7210's out there and they run pm to pm.

In 25 mode soft switches and set 5-0 to 0, 5-1 to 1, 5-3 to 1, 5-2 to 0. 23-3 to 1, 23-2 to 0. This will help machine run cleaner with toner.

Make sure to run drum peculiarity adj after you set soft switches and every service call.

The main reason the dev craps out is these machines recycle toner and paper dust contaminates the developer. If they would have designed this series with a waste bottle I bet the dev would last at least 500k.

The 600 series are basically the same as 5510 except the LCD and tech rep mode is Minolta style. Konica must really think this was a great design since they have kept it around so long. Many techs would disagree on that :-)

I've had dozens of the 750 (& now the 751) in the field & I love them.
Yes they dump the dev & trash the fuser sooner than it should but we came to Konica as a replacement for our Panasonic dealership.
Hence we replaced many Panasonic DP-6010/20/30 series machines with bizhub 750's.
The Konica machines really saved our bacon and the 750 is a god compared to the Panasonic boxes.
Panasonic should've stuck to making TVs.

Most of my BH 750's & 751's have 2-4 million on the clock and are still going strong.
Looking forward to the 754 coming tho.

I can only go with what I know. I do not have near the toner problems with the 600 as I did with the 650. And I hated the old 450's. My 5 year contract is 4 and a hlf yeas old and I have 1 600 that has over 1.3 million on it and is dumping, and 1 low used, about 260,000 that is dropping toner. The one with 3 million on it runs like a top. There are several low usage machines that have never had a service call. As I have said, if everything an by the book, I would not have reason to go to work. The manufacture would make everything easy for the end user to change.

Those are available at the time from a wholesaler. What other used model 45cpm or > would you prefer?

Well the Bizhub 601 is the new improved version. I only have one of those, and I only see it when it needs toner.

can I set the same setting with the bizhub 600 series?

yeah same problem with my bizhub 600 series. I tried to did the mod in the bias pin. but unsuccessful (the image in the bulletin is black and white +unclear).
