    [Misc] BH C452 drum chips

I have replaced the drum chips on the C552 without problems. But not having a chip to replace in the C452 drum is a problem for me.
Is this something new? I thought the drums were the same? Or did they hide it somewhere else?

    Thanks

Are The IU's/Drums the original units for the machine? I believe the original parts for the +452 don't come with chips but all spare units you order for the machine will have the chips.

      MDR24,
Thank you for that post. That does seem to explain everything. Looks like I'll end up buying a set of drums. How about the black
IU drum unit? That is the only one I did not look at. I wonder if I could swap one of those drums to another IU unit with a chip.
As an indy I don't hear about things like this until I run across it in the field.

      Thanks again

Why dont you simply change the service mode settings & sw's then you never need to replace the chips, simply replace the image units when they fail, usually 2-3 times past their estimated life, or more if the customer isn't too fussy on CQ!

          Copier tech,
I like that suggestion. I will look through the book for that setting.

You break a couple of toner seals if you disassemble the unit, if you can patch that up you can swop the drums and blades.

I am pretty sure its the same as the c650's

Softswitch 51 needs to be 00001100 (hex: 0C) - at least thats what is on a c650 - just checked.
You need to go to Billing once you are in Service Mode (press stop-0-clear) and change the IU stop setting.

I think you have to install firmware to do this--hopefully someone can comment on that further.

                  Re: BH C452 drum chips

Wrong, it's not the same on the C452/552

switch 51 set HEX to F0 fix
switch 55 set HEX to 0C fix

Exit CE mode & go back in, check these HEX settings are still saved (not 00)
If they are not saved you need to update the fw then try again

Max, your right there not in the book.

Thank you copier tech for that info. I will give this a shot. And I will save this post.

If I need firmware I will look around.

Thanks a bunch everyone you just made my day

                      copier tech,
I went into service to system 2/software switch setting/
entered 51 and entered the hex number, did the same for 55.

Backed out of service mode and checked under utility/counter button.
The Icon for the consumables is still there.

Went back into service and checked the settings. They did not change.
I re entered, backed out of service and cycled the power.

Same result. am I missing something here?

CE mode is that the same as service mode?

I did not see anything for "billing".
I get the feeling I am looking in the wrong place.

                      What do you think?

                      Thanks

You will need to update the firmware if the machine wont fix the hex settings

Synaux, no I would close out the service mode then cycle the power.
I will use just the main pwr today & pwr dn from the hex setting screen.

Copier tech, the hex setting does stay there where I set it.

Thanks for checking up on me
