The Icon for the consumables is still there.

Went back into service and checked the settings. They did not change.
I re entered, backed out of service and cycled the power.

Same result. am I missing something here?

CE mode is that the same as service mode?

I did not see anything for "billing".
I get the feeling I am looking in the wrong place.

    What do you think?

    For the IU stop setting:
    1. Press the Utility/Counter key.
    2. Touch [Meter Count] on the touchscreen.
    3. Touch [Check Details] on the touchscreen.
    4. Press Stop, 0, 0, Stop, 0, 1.
    5. Press Stop, 0, C.
    6. Touch [IU Life Stop Setting] on the touchscreen.
    7. Touch [No Stop] on the touchscreen.
    8. Touch [END] on the touchscreen.
    9. Touch [Exit] on the touchscreen.

Sounds like you need to update the firmware either way....

OK, those directions make more sense. I was only changing the software switches. I will use this sequence today and let you
know how I fair. Upgrading the firmware is usually a good thing to do, as long as the next version is sorta bug free.

      Thanks for the info

What Albonline meant is, there is special IU life enhancement firmware that has to be installed before those soft switches can be changed.
        Hope this helps

I meant to edit my post...but god side tracked here at work...

Desert Rat, it is not a firmware upgrade, but rather an enhanced firmware or "special firmware" version: GC4-C4

            Re: BH C452 drum chips

Well, today I followed those instructions and got into the enhanced security mode and found a setting for life stop.
It was set to stop. I changed it to "don't stop". I think I just powered down from there. Was that right?
Check the consumable life under utilities and the IU life indicators were still there, at the same levels. I guess I expected that
            consumable life display to disappear?
At any rate I made the setting. And yes the software changes did fix, as far as I can tell. But only time will tell for sure or
is there another place to check that the setting took?

Thanks for all your help. You guys really know your stuff. And thanks for sharing with me and everyone else.

The best way is to look at the tiny oil can icon on the bottom of the screen, is it there? if so click on it, if you have L1-2-3-4-5 codes etc that means the setting working & the machine wont ask you again for image units, fuser or transfer unit.

                Re: BH C452 drum chips

I checked on the screen display and there is not an oil can Ikon. I ran the machine management list to see the firmware.
I did not see Gc4-c4 anywhere.

I guess I will need to upgrade the firmware as was mentioned.
I have never had to do this and would appreciate any help.

I have heard these machines are sensitive to the size of the usb device.

What size should I have and how should it be partitioned.

                Thanks

I will get the 2gig usb and format as needed. Then I will need the firmware.

Are the instructions in the book fairly clear?

Looking at the list of firmware, I can't tell which one would need to replaced or upgraded.

Guess I will be reading myself to sleep this weekend with the service manual.

I hope I'm not imposing to much with this machine.

Simply upgrade to the latest vesion, you dont need the "special" firmware

It looks like there is about 10 or 12 different items or firmwares. Which one and what is the latest firmware?

                          Thanks
