some people just cut that clamp off or cut the old cable end off when removing - I'm not one of them, but i've not heard of any issues in doing it - many have been done like this now without issue.

I remove the 2 big disk head screws that secure the feeder to the frame and rest a screwdriver handle between the feeder and the frame to hold it up while I undo that clamp screw. It's not that hard really.

KM did actually create instructions for replacement of the DF701 cis cable. I have not seen if for a long time though but it does exist. In typical KM fashion a ludicrous amount of disassembly was required in their version so i filed it in the circular filing cabinet - it came out months after i worked it out for my self.

I got those instructions. Like yourself, I balked at the vast complexity and just figured it out myself. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

A3CEN11711 is the part number. It is the black cable that runs from CIS down to the dual scan pwb. Old one is thicker than the new cable.

I've had machines sold up till recently still fitted with the fat cable and had to change it. Not everyone does it though, still got LOTs of df-701's in the field with the old style cable still going fine. The problem seems to occur most on machines where the rear hinges have not been setup correctly, ie left in the factory position and the DF is able to open all the way to 90 degrees.
I am cursing your name this morning as I had a call come in for C454e with c9403 code...
