Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
Perchance, did you follow the instructions that came in the box with the developing unit? I'm thinking probably not.
You see this printer uses monocomponent toner, like many of the other Kyoceras, so the developing unit arrives completely empty. There are simulations that you must run to fill the developing unit. Did you save the destructions? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
I'm with big cat on this one,
It happened to me in the past, I installed a new imaging unit to a Kyocera printer and the machine kept asking for toner even though the toner cart was perfectly fitted.
Happens that the unit dind't have enough toner in the dv chamber because when new, they arrive completely empty.
-You need to run a simm to pump up enough toner to it - *I can't remember which one now*
OR as I did, add it manually to the DV unit, then close it and put the now-almost-empty toner cart in its place, and start the machine again, and that's it.Comment

Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
from the sm
Initializing the developing unit (toner install mode)
Description
The new developing unit is shipped from the factory with no toner contained. The developing
unit can be automatically replete with toner when a toner container is installed onto
it and the printer is turned on. However, because the toner reservoir in the developing
unit has a large capacity, it requires a lengthy period of time until a substantial amount of
toner has been fed to get the printer ready. (A new developing unit needs approximately
200 g for triggering the sensor inside.)
Purpose
To execute when the developing unit has been replaced.
Method
1. Enter the Service Setting menu.
2. Select [New Developer] using the cursor up/down keys.
3. Press the OK key.
4. Select the [YES] using the left select key.
[Accepted] is displayed.
The toner installation is performed when power is turned on and off.
NOTE: Toner supply is stopped when toner installation mode is performing.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
Thanks Subaro. Selecting New Developer fixed that problem.
However, it is printing blank pages. A quarter of the developer roller has very light coat of toner, the rest is still silver in color. Even the part cover with toner, nothing prints on the page. I increased the density and very faint print of the Kyocera logo when printing the status page and subsequently nothing on any pages. The faint print means the laser shutter is opened. Any ideas
Thanking youComment

another thought, try a new or used toner cartidge. also pull out the dev unit and move the blue toner lever back and forth and observe if is acutually moving the mechanism on the dev toner dispense hole.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
Dev clutch. really, never had to replace one on this series. i replaced the bypass clutch once and that machine had been in a cement factory, lots of dust. Anyway troubleshooting the dev rotation is to mark the gear that the dev clutch is driving and also the dev roller one side . fuser seem to be the most common problem and a few with toner augur problems. besides that they run solid and we got lots of these on the field getting up in to over 100k-200k.Last edited by subaro; 03-10-2016, 01:08 AM.THE ONLY THING FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN TO DO NOTHING..........edmund burkeComment

Re: FS-4300DN Prompting for new toner
Then toner is not being fed from the toner cartridge to the dev housing. examine the toner cartridge blue lever and see if is not damaged. Have found a few with not adding toner problem. If the mag roller is not fully covered with toner , then you have a problem with toner not getting there. had one case where the gear that drive the toner cartridge on the right side of the dev unit was out of position. all in all your dev unit has a problem i would suggest.
