Ta 255 main charge roller. getting bumpy

I have a client with a Ta 255 that has a bumpy main charge roller, PN 302K393140 PM kit MC-457. Are these aval?? my parts guy just got me a new drum unit. Has any one else seen these go bad like this??
I have 2 more, lease returned, TA 305's to remarket and one of them has a bad roller also. just hate to waste a drum over a charge roller.
    Thank You

Charge rollers go bad, get lumpy and little fairy rings on them. Just replace the roller and save the drum.

It started with the Alphard series. On Voyager and Saturn you would get the typical ozone buildup on the surface, but they did not go lumpy. Alphard I and AlphardII get lumps that discharge, sometimes in that interesting spider pattern. Once it's lumpy it will continue to discharge in the same areas, at the high spots. I don't understand why Kyocera cannot design a charge roller to last.

SOS different day on the 3010i and 6525/6530. Never saw this on FS 3140 series, as you could clean them till the cows came home and they would always look like new.
Seems to be a softer or less durable material that these newer ones are made from, and at 70- 80 bucks a pop they are not cheap either...

We always just replace the whole drum unit and keep the old drum as a spare if need be. The cost difference between the entire drum unit and the charge roller is only like 15-20 dollars.

I will replace the drum unit and keep this old one as backup. Kyocera can be so good,..and then be bad about simple things. My DC 111 finially retired with the Business owners who retired and sold the business,..A TV / appliance shop. It was still making good copies. That quality was my introduction to Mita.

I worked on a lot of those. Shimming the tabletop clutches was quite an art. Anybody remember the rubber stopper breaking off? When you clammed the machine open the glass would slide all the way over, off the rails and skate across the floor. It was quite a surprise the first few times. =^..^=

You learn very quickly to anticipate this little surprise. I don't know if Mita had a fix , but Gestetner did for the broken stopper.
