    [CQ] FS-C8525mfp magenta background

hello everyone and happy new year

this machine has done 40k prints,, 29k color - it is all very clean inside with a minimum of dusting

i'm having a problem with magenta background & small magenta sprinkles on all color prints - after vacuuming the machine, drum & dev units & performing all the maintenance procedures from the control panel (color registration & calibration, tone curve adjustment, drum refresh & laser scanner clean) the background vanishes, but then comes back again. First instance it took a few months for the background to return, 2nd instance the background returned within a few days

anyone familiar with this particular problem? i realise i could just replace the magenta dev unit, but the client is a charity organisation and i'd hate to fit a part that wasn't necessary

perhaps all that is required is a firmware update?

i did scan some samples, but even at 600 DPI the background didn't show up,,, anyway, any assistance would be very much appreciated

    thanks in advance

You already have your answer. It's just plain overtoning, and not wanting to charge the money does not negate the need for a magenta developing unit. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

at 40k it needs a new dev? most devs usually last 100k

well, as long as it's not something stupid like a firmware update

      thanks blackcat

        Are they using OEM toner?

...does the drum section have a charge roller that needs to be cleaned?....they can create a background/lines if they are not cleaned!

            actually still pondering this one

i presume they're using genuine toner, though i haven't checked

if it is overtoning, or has a dirty drum charge roller,, it wouldn't get better after doing some calibrations,,, then go bad again
