I have two 3550's with the same problem and I really need some suggestions. The problem happens only with multiple copies, single or double sided, only cassette one. The bypass and the extra tray two are fine. It happens every four or five copies jam 501. There's a piece of paper about half fed from the tray and one part way through the fuser. I've replaced the feed, pick up and separation rollers, the entire separation roller assembly because it was the old style with the long arms, and also the paper feed drive assembly which contains the feed clutch. I think I'm going to order the entire cassette but if that doesn't do it I'm stuck. Any help would be great. Thanks, Jim

Just tray #1 or both trays? =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If it's only tray 1 and not tray 2, first thing I'd do is swap pick assemblies to see if the problem follows, likewise with the cassettes to try and see from where the problem is originating. Try this before digging out feed clutches etc.

I've had the lifter gear for cass 1 break. this made the paper jam as the cass was trying to lift during printing ops. you should be able to clearly see it with the cassette removed. It happens when users rifle the cassette into the machine. be forewarned, its a major undertaking if replacement is needed, not for the faint of heart or those lacking confidence in their abilities. If you phrase your inquiry properly, you will get the answers you seek...
Good Luck ... You'll need it! HAHAHA!
