Kyocera 8001 jam 4913 4915 4918

This Kyocera 8001 has jam codes 4913 4915 4918 bridge conveying sensor 1 not turning off.

Paper stops just entering the fuser, rolled up at finisher entrance, at primary feed and in conveying unit. Nothing in bridge area.

Replaced drawer of bridge section and the drive unit behind the drawer which has BRCS1 and BRCS2 sensors.

Problem is very intermittent, can happen single or two sided. Machine has 1.5 million copies.

The firmware is up to date, fuser recently replaced. Has anyone had 49xx codes on the 6500/6501/8000/8001 type machines?

Oh yeah, I've been down that road. Take a look at the exit sensor flag. At 1.5M you'll have a very noticeable flat spot on the top surface of the flag.

I went down that same road. I replaced the bridge sensors, flags, rollers, bushings, one-way bearings ... and none of it made any difference. Do I have a photo?:

Hi

While your taking care of the bridge unit issues, check the de curler flag and sensor...The sensor tends to get knocked out of place and a new style flag was released. The flag shaft is slightly shorter to allow a e/c clip to be used to hold it in place. Not sure of ser # cutoff.

This looks like middle guide from the exit unit just after the fixing area 302K994662. We will replace.

I wanted to make sure it wasn't the relay exit unit at left end of the machine.

That will do the trick.
Usually I just order the flag (302K928121) and return spring (302K928190).

The photo is of a short term MacGuyver that got the machine running until the part came in. =^..^=

I am using mylars on both sides. They seem to do trick plus its self adhesive so it is sometimes quicker, like in the drum area of finisher.

Hi Blackcat

The universal multi-use paperclip is a fantastic idea ...I used it yesterday, and to secure it to the flag I used instant light activated super glue 5 Second Fix As Seen On TV UV Gluel Light Repair Tool Liquid Plastic Weld Pen | eBay . This seems to work well and the advantage is you can hold something in place and instantly bond it.

I'm glad it worked for you. It's acronym on the paperwork is SPC or LPC depending on the size of the clip. =^..^=

I use the UV just to set the broken piece/part in place , then follow up with the 5 minute epoxy and if appropriate , LPC or SPC whole or piece beaded in the epoxy for reinforcement.
