    FS 4000DN is working veeerryyyy SLLOOWWW...

    Hello,

    few month ago ive bought new FS 4000 DN - its works great - ive printed over 400.000 pages. but the time comes to give it away to service to change MEDIAKIT - they also update my firmware. From this moment my printer is working less than 50% of earlier speed (even on 300dpi).

    Could anybody can help? before it was qucik as ferrari - right now its a bus...

    Before it was 1200FAST - now its only 300dpi

    Im using TCP/IP connection. standard 128MB.

    mostly im printing PDF files (always the same as before the service "helped" me)

    any idea?

    thanks in advance

    STEP 1 - change your PDL in your driver to PCL XL. (Is the GDI compatability mode ticked in your driver?) if so, untick it.

    In your adobe printer menu, click advanced button, make sure that "print as image" is unticked.

    are your PDF docs large in quantity?

    That has to work. If it doesnt then try...

    additional - change firmware parameter S5 to 2

    additional - change firmware parameter H8 to 2

      Hello,

      ive done all this and nothing happened. still it prints 10 first pages very fast - and then stops fo 1-2s - prints 2 pages - and stops......and all over again....

      what happened with my printer? is this firmware fault?

      thanks in advance

        try running your firmware again if that dont help it may be your eprom or even the engine board try a different engine board for antoher fs 4000 if you have one it is a pain in the ass to change but the eprom has to be initalized by kyocera tech support so that would be my last option

          How can i run my firmware again? is there any tool to update it to the old version?

          my service tells me thru the phone that the reason of my problem could be not original toner (but i have original) - is that possible?

          thanks guys

            you can reload the same firmware sometimes that helps and no i've never seen refurb toner cartridge cause it to print slow. It can cause fusing problems and bad copy quality. have you tried a different engine board

              I've seen OEM service bulletins for other brands addresing this kind of problem and they make reference to be the antivirus as the main culprit. (Norton).

                  Please answer the following....

                  Please tell me the firmware version u are currently using?

                  What application are you printing from? Is it a certain application or any application?

                  What is your Host buffer size? ie... Parameters H8 and S5

                  Is RAM Disk on or off?

                  Is it on a network interface or USB?

                    Is it on a network interface or USB?

                    1 - from my www printer site i see this
                    System Firmware: 2F9_3000.010.004
                    Engine Firmware: 2GA_1000.010.001
                    2 - from the begining im printing my files directly from ACROBAT READER 8.1 - it mainly 140-350 page B&W Scans with simple text. It was workin before for 1200dpi - right now my service told me to change it to 300dpi - no effects.

                    From the begining i cant print MULTICOPY - even small files are not possible to PRINT more than once. Service told me that its small RAM (only 128MB)

                    3 - ive changed H8 to 25, and S5 to 2. no effects.

                    4 - RAM disk is on - 92MB

                    5 - its NETWORK TCP/IP - we have one

                    ruter -> switch
                    -> comp 1
                    -> comp 2
                    -> printer 3.

                    works for DHCP with assigned IP for each MAC ADRES.

                    thats it. it should work as before service. but its not. it looks like the printer recevies data - and even then its stops for 1-2s betwen pages. the paper is the same - original toner installed - new Maintenance Kit...

                    when im printing something ive send almost 20-30 pages in first second. but it doesnt have any impact on my printing speed.

                    please help

                    and thanks in advance

                      There is your problem!!!

                      3 - ive changed H8 to 25, and S5 to 2. no effects.
                      4 - RAM disk is on - 92MB
                      Your host buffer size is 25mb... that is way too big. Have parameter H8 set to 2 or 3. With will free up some of your memory to process data.

                      RAM disk, RAM disk in enabled you say, both in your driver and the machine?

                      DISABLE RAM DISK!

                        DISABLE RAM DISK!

                        ive done this - printer is thinkign and blinkig DATA even longer than before. My computer is sending only 8.3 MB to the printer and everything stops.

                        i will try with RAM DISK ON.

                        21:25 - its not printing anything the printer recevies only 8.3MB of data and do nothing fo few more minutes...what happened?

                        21:26 - machnie prints first two pages....and stop again....it work much longer than before

                        21:33 - no matter what i do it still stops on 8.3MB - after almost 10 minutes prints first 2 pages (duplex) and than stops at 12.6 MB....

                        21:52 - i cant even have the last time result - it stops at 8.3 and no option works for it...

                        any new ideas? maybe someone want to have an acces to it thru the net?

                          Thats as far as i go. I cant believe that it would take so long after those settings i gave you.

                          I will have to do some research and get back to you.
