    4002i internal finisher weird problem

New machine only 500 prints, DF7100

Approach the machine and the exit tray is down.

Make a single copy the screen flashes "exit tray full remove paper" for a second then the tray lifts and it prints.

Then after it prints the tray moves all the way down (full position) and the process repeats itself.

It's odd that it corrects itself.

I resested connectors, removed and reinstalled it, flashed firmware. Tested sensors in SIM.

Just for kicks, have you tried U906?

I believe I did. Not that 906 makes sense either but like you said just for kicks. I have the finisher pwb on order. If it doesn't fix it I'll try to link a video

Is it in direct sunlight for part of the day? a million years ago Kyocera had a finisher that would lower its tray due to sun glare hitting a sensor, they ended up putting a filter (it looked like yellow a thermistor film) over the sensor to correct the problem.

There is a tremendous amount of glare on the screen if you don't tilt it but I can't see how it would hit the finisher

Isn't the resting position of the new internal finisher tray *down*?

I'm not sure. Honestly on this screwed up finisher ive seen it idle both ways. I guess it depends how the last user left it. And both ways end up erroring out

Does the rack drive "clack ... clack ... clack" when it reaches bottom? I had one that got tweeked in transportation. The lower limit switch wasn't being actuated at the bottom of the travel. I had different symptoms though ... I'm pretty sure that mine errored out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No clack. There's a video with sound in above post.

The video is of me making 10 copies of 1 original. I am not doing anything but recording. The tray somehow realizes it's not actually full and takes one more sheet.

Silly question, have you popped it open and checked to make sure all the sensor's connectors are connected right?

I replaced the upper & lower limit sensors and it fixed. Normal for Sharps not Kyocera. Well, thanks all.
