    TASKalfa 406ci toner smudge

    Hi Guys,

I've just finish to clean a transfer belt of a TASKalfa 406ci.
Machine has 23600 copies (23000 bw and 600 color) and 3 months of life.

Problem was toner smudges (not every print) on paper.
Transfer belt seems ok, i clean the "cleaning section" of transfer belt with vacuum.

This is the only one machine I have under my maintenance.

Usually they works well or have problems?
Client prints with low coperture (average 3.7%)..
What can I do? Maybe a defective machine?

    Thank you in advance,
    Kyove

I agree it's probably the belt. Kyocera had a bulletin and released seals around the drum and dev unit. But my fix for the comet drops was belt.

But it doesnt matter they'll come back. The "3 digit". Kyocera models are costly little pigs.

We have replaced many belts under warranty in these. Keep sending the faulty ones back and they will have to improve them.

We have been having the same issue. We just keep a spare, and vacuum out the cleaning section, and reuse for the next machine.

It isn't the best solution, but it keeps our customers happy. They/We don't mind the extra visits when it isn't out of our way.

does this have a cleaning blade or brush?

if blade did you clean it and re-powder it?

if brush, did you vac that?

it sure would be nice if you could upload PDF's of the samples?

what does the fuser look like?

what toner OEM genuine or third party?

do the use plain paper or thick?

could it be residual gum from labels on the drums?

where is the smudge located on the paper?

so many questions so little info givne.

Fyi, this series have the following two problems.

                      1. drum marks, I dont know what you call them, but the drum gets these white marks on them overtime.

                      2. smudge, DEVELOPER. The same problem as TA250ci.

Image tranfer belt is very passive, it takes, it doesnt give, the smudge is from something "giving."
