    TaskAlfa 3252ci SQUEAKING

    Hi all

i have a TaskAlfa 3242ci that is squeaking from somewhere round the back of the machine. For the life of me I cannot trace it! Has anyone come across any squeaks on this machine?

I hate squeaks!!! Not on this unit, but had one on the previous model that drove me crazy, five calls for "squeaking". Except for the last call, every time I arrived the unit was not squeaking. Discovered that a clear plastic film disk covering one of the electrical clutches on the backside was causing the problem, you could see that it was lubricated to start with and adding a little grease to the entire surface of the clear plastic film resolved the issue. Crazy thing it is the film disk is not listed in the parts list so I would assume that it comes with the clutch and is supposed to protect the clutch from toner dusting. Found the offending clutch by placing a screwdriver tip to the end of each shaft with the handle to my ear [old car trick] to locate it. And as you would have it, there was only one person in the office that could hear the "squeak". Five hours labor for a dab of grease, go figure. Hope this helps.

This machine should have a Sim 30 to isolate. I've oiled up the feed drive unit before.

The fusers make noise and the bearings fall out on this series also.

our very first installed machine of this style engine (2552ci) had a nasty squeak from the rear of the device during the first two weeks, had to replace the drive pack assembly under warranty. I can't remember if it was noisy during any particular SIM drive, or idle anymore...

Is that the paper feed drive assembly?

I have always found that it is coming from the eject unit. Have had a few of the inner finishers squeak also.

It was the main drum/dv drive assy.
The waste toner passages/auger are attatched to the front of this drive assy, and a new drive needs the old waste section moved onto it.
It's actually surprisingly elegant to swap, once you've handled one... especially compared to say, the dv drive in a 3051 or 250ci!

I've only had a few of this series squeak and it was always the exit section idlers and bushings.
