    CS 5501

This guy has 3+ million copies, and has developed a light edge on both prints and copies. The first tech replaced the DV and Drum with both new units, and the transfer assy with an known good one. I removed the laser and lifted the top and cleaned the mirrors, ran all the adjustments...other than the toner recurve because it wouldnt read it correctly with a light edge

The laser was my first choice. At 3M it will have dusted significantly into the laser.

What does the latent image look like on the drum? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Did you just clean the top laser mirrors? You need to flip it over remove the 4 polgyon motors and clean those 5 sided mirrors.

As it spins it hits dirty air and develops a smudge mark on an edge of each face.

I took a spare laser (from a donor machine) with me and swapped it out, with the intention of bringing the old one back and cleaning the poly mirrors...but it fell off the copier and hit the concrete floor it appears to be in one piece but I doubt, that I would trust it as a back up.
Copies are clean and crisp once again

            Thanks guys
