Maybe it would help to know what model you're working on?
Are the guides touching the sides of the paper?
Can you access the Paper Settings from the System Menu?

Come On! We're going to need more than that! =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

It would help to know the model of the copier you are working on. Does the display say the paper cassettes are empty or you just cannot print/copy from them? Have you checked to make sure that paper has not gotten behind the cassette preventing the machine from detecting the paper [very common]?

I don't think the model matters.

              I want pictures

Normally yes but not with this issue. It's kinda like "i have lines through the doc feeder". And you're like "what model?"

I'd like to see the message on the screen

Yep, it doesn't matter what are answers in this case.
C'mon Zombie you are not member of this Forum from yesterday.
It's superficial at least and I'm very soft with wordings, to post question like this.
You wasted valuable time of many great members(not including me) here to read and answer such a incomplete thread.

Lines when scanning yes irrelevant what moel.

But with this issue paper lift etc is different depending on what model! he could have a small desktop or production model.

Check behind the trays and see if there is paper smashed into all the sensors.

If it is a small mfp/printer the switches on the left side for paper size will cause this issue. But I would just be guessing without the model.
