3501I Stuck on welcome screen

My customer called to say their machine had and error code (don't know what the code was) but turned machine off/on and now is stuck one the welcome screen. They did turn off, unplug/plug and turn on. Still stuck on welcome screen.
Am I gunna have to replace the hard drive?

Unplug the hard drive and boot the unit, if you get an error for the HD it is probably the HD. If it is stuck on the welcome screen then it is probably not the HD.

HDD or main Board, usually HDD errors out, where as main board issue mfp just freezes.

i have seen this happen sometimes when it's something as simple as a paper jam in the machine when powered on, sometimes it will take forever for the J0000 to trigger. You may want to try opening the front cover, then powering up the machine to see if a home screen appears or a close front cover error triggers.
