    M2540DW fuser gear jumping

Has anyone had a problem with the fuser gears jumping a tooth on this model. It will do it once or twice within 10 copies I took it out and everything looks ok and doesn't seem to be binding. It only has about 50K on it.
    Thanks in advance

I looked for bulletins on Copystar site and didn't see any. What kind of problems are they having?

It's the fuser. I think it has something to do with the pressure engage/release because like you said everything turns by hand. Just be thankful because the drive mech on that models look f'n buried.

I saw two springs that look like it might adjust the pressure but I didn't want to touch it until I found more information on the fuser. This fuser is not the usual Kyocera fuser. Being a Canon guy I have been dealing with the fuser films for years. It will be interesting to see if Kyocera will ever have the problem of blurry copy from the film not rotating at the same speed as the paper going through it.

Yes they have had blurry copies caused by the fuser film not rotating at the same speed, this is one of the ways we identify a fuser issue, a smudge bar across the page. These fusers had a problem with the slider sheet on the frame coming loose and binding the film due to the wrong adhesive being used. The QA info came out nearly two years ago, but there was no TB issued that I know of. Replacing the fuser assembly is a ten minute job and if you print out all the maintenance reports before and after replacement, KYo replaces under the three year warranty. This issue could also cause jam codes by the paper not reaching the exit sensor in time. It appears that Kyo has the problem solved as units installed in the past year have not had the problem and the fusers we have replaced have operated normally. Beyond this issue this unit has been rock solid for us and has actually reduced service calls in the category. Hope this helps.

I will be ordering a fuser. I also convinced the customer to upgrade to the 3645idn since there volume is pretty high. They did 50K in 6 months and at that rate they will be doing a MK once a year.
