[Misc] mystery part between taskalfa 4550ci and PF740; also request suggestions on joining

Long time owner/leasor of about 6 of the taskalfa series.

Just picked up a working 4550ci for $350 with the finisher and PF740 cassette 3/4.
Unfortunately, wasn't able to do it wrapped with a liftgate (long drive), and
separated the top from PF740 to bring it back upright in vehicle.

Back in the office, managed to crunch the plastic part poking up from the deck
of the PF740 that the paper feeds through when reassembling (2 of the 4
people helping didn't speak english). This of course results in jams when feeding from
cassette 3/4 (rest of copier works fine).

I've gone through 4550 service manual, parts manual and the PF740 service manual and parts manual.

That piece doesn't show on many of the diagrams for assembly or pictures.

After first thinking it was the vertical conveyor or primary feeder, I think now the part
number is 303NF94010 middle roller unit.

    1) can someone confirm this is the right part. Any good sources for parts...

    2) what is the best way to mate these 2? I'm thinking maybe put some
spacers on top, align, and then gradually remove until the copier is on top.
Is it possible to fit that part in after assembling by removing some of the vertical
    conveyor assembly stuff?

    thanks,
    allan

      1) That is the right part

      2) It's installed after the machine is placed on the PF-740-see attached

A photo of the broken part(s) would be more useful.

I first thought that was it...part on page 6, the intermediate conveying unit.
but it's not. inside and lower than that.

just a plastic guide (crunched) with rod & 4 or 5 rollers. can THAT be removed after it is assembled?

was hoping to avoid getting 4 people to pickup again for photo.
but I attached image. the image doesn't show the part, but it would
be where I drew red circle.

I'll shim it up tomorrow. need to anyway to do the replacement

Agreed. that part is fitted AFTER the MFP is resting on the PF unit. If you fit it before, it will become broken again. See item D, page 8 of the installation guide, attached to TBS's post. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

thanks, lots of good info and help here. I'll probably be picking your
brains in future since I'm maintaining this one myself.

My mistake was thinking the intermediate conveying unit on pg 6 of
the PF740 manual was different from the middle roller unit.
With it up, it's obvious I should have joined, removed the upper door,
              and then installed.

              Here is pic for archives.
