    Mita DC-4090

I've got an older Mita DC-4090 that is using an insane amount of toner. The pages are being heavily saturated with a streaked look. It's like someone took a paintbrush and went across each page. The image density is totally out of whack on this thing. The density is working, because you can lower it all the way and it does lighten up. We're working on this thing to give to a non-profit once it's up and running, so I don't have the normal supply of parts to fix it.

So does it sound like more of a fuser/image drum or software problem? Maybe a sensor? They can't afford to pay much for repairs so I'm trying to not have to swap out parts for testing, you know.

Check the sapcing between the mag roller on the dev unit Ive seen them wear out also check the dr blade its possible for that to have been reinstalled improperly if it has been taken ot before that migh explain the image density problem with over toning/developer leakage.

This machine have this problem, you must clean and vacuum a white roller under the developing unit, check the cleaning blade and the brush cleaning roller. You must do it every service call.

Interesting little tidbit, I took the toner cartridge out of the machine and the copier makes the same dark pages no matter what is on the glass. After about 100 pages, it's not any lighter. I'm not familiar with this device at all, and like I said it's for a non-profit so any help would be appreciated.

Well unless someone has a free copier laying around that isn't a pile..or old as terd, then I'm stuck trying to fix this one. Since it has all the features they would like, and isn't slow, it would be really great to bring it back to life. I'm just hoping it's not going to cost an arm and a leg to do it.
