Need help on Adjusting the scanner automatically - U411

Forgive my ignorance, but under U411 it lists several test charts needed for adjustment and I have none of them and they are quite expensive. Do I need all of them? I'm mainly interested in setting the lead edge and center line from the platen glass and document feeder. Any insight is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Charts are designed to set it automatically.
you can adjust the ones you want manual.
if you have the birthed chart you can input the same settings or use a working machine specs there usally pretty close.
usally you should never touch them.

Use could also do a reset on machine but that would be a last resort.

Thanks for the response. I understand that charts are use to set it automatically. That's what I want to do. Just from reading the manual, I find U411 a bit confusing. What I need to know is which chart I need to automatically set lead edge registration and center line and maybe a brief explanation on how to do it.

      Thanks in advance.

That manual is a little easier to understand that the 3551ci manual. That's what I'm working on. I need to find a place to order the charts. Any suggestions?

If it were me, and it's not, I would manually set those adjustments rather than buy expensive test charts that can do the same thing. =^..^=

            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

              Do it manually.

One confusing thing Kyocera does with their manual adjustments is that in the book the pictures are of a short edge original. Most techs use long edge and wonder why the margins aren't adjusting correctly.

I may end up coming to the same conclusion, blackcat. They are on the expensive side. But I do like the idea of the speed and convenience of the test charts.

Thank you to blackcat and JR2. You're right that I need to adjust the setting manually. This was my first experience with these setting. The test charts in this particular case would have been a waste of money. I have it figured out now. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Once figured out, the method stays the same for most Kyoceras, with only a few variations in wording. You just added another tool to your toolbox. =^..^=

At first you can run U034 for drawer 1 or other standard drawer.
If "LSU Out Top" and "LSU Out Left" would set to correct values, you can run U411/ DP Auto Adj.
System is printing out own adjustment sheet for table and DP.
For adjusting margins and center line you don`t need other sheets.

Re: Need help on Adjusting the scanner automatically - U411

I thought I'd follow up on this. First, I want to thank Phil for his insistence that it's important to study the manual until you know what's going on. I had taken a few shortcuts and decided to take his advice. What I found was eye opening for me.

When it comes to setting center line, lead edge, ect on a Kyocera Taskalfa, there is a definite order that you must do things. That includes making sure the Document Processor is positioned correctly. It also means make sure the magnification is set correctly from the platen and DP. Then you have to make sure all the cassettes are set correctly.

I know these are setting you don't ordinarily need to adjust on a regular basis, but if any of this stuff is off, you can spend a lot of time chasing your tail.

Read the manual. Follow the manual.

PS - When I say to make sure the DP is positioned correctly, I mean physically positioned correctly...like turning a screw driver kind of thing.
