    Kyocera 3551ci scan quality issue

When I make a scan from the DP, I have a yellowish background over most of the page. When I scan from the glass, the scan looks good. Thoughts?

Here's an example when scanning from the DP:

I would use the kyocera color test charts for ccd adjust. Worked for me.

I don't have the test chart. I just made a 2-sided scan and the first side showed the backgrounding and the 2nd side was fine. I dunno.

I ended up replacing the scanner control board on mine, then using the chart to calibrate. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Since copies off the glass look good, and the second side through DP look good, (assuming single pass DP), I doubt you need the color charts. It is likely adjusting maint. mode U068 DP scanning position will resolve the issue. For starters I would try changing to +10 and then -10 to see if it makes any difference better or worse and then go from there. The default setting should be at or close to 0 unless someone has already adjusted. If so, that may be the problem.

Yes, it's a single pass DP. I've tried adjusting sim. 68 w/no success. When I change the value it does get rid of the black banding but there's a constant yellow background over the entire page. I've even changed out the DP with a known good one and still have the problem.

Could you attach a color scan (test chart maybe) of single sided DP scan and same original scanned from glass?

Thanks for your help. I got it fixed. It was a bad ISC PWB (ISCPWB). I replaced and all is working. Thanks again.

Right you are. Unfortunately it was the last thing I replaced.

Have you seen the Colorfish Test pattern? Compare the one on the glass to the one through the DP:

                    KM3051ci DP Color1.JPG

The way it was explained to me the scanner uses tables of numeric values to convert specific colors to data for printing. The tables for the DP were in some way corrupted. This was a KM-3051ci.

This is the same test pattern printed on the glass & DP:

No, I've never seen the color fish test pattern. That's wild. I've never really thought about it but it makes senses. From the way you explained it, I suppose there's a numeric value for every color in the spectrum. Interesting stuff.
