    kyocera 4050 scan to thumbdrive

Hey all, I had a customer asking if they could use the thumbdrive port to scan documents to. I said sure, they all do it, but when I tried to show her I couldn't figure it out. After doing some research, it appears that older series may only print from thumbdrive, but not scan. To be honest I've never had a customer on one of those ask to use it so I wasn't sure, I know all the newer ones can. Their scan to email is working fine, but she wanted to use the thumbdrive option also. Is that possible?

I think it's the other way around. On the older machines you can scan to USB but can't print from.

Check to see if USB is blocked. Make sure USB is firmly plugged in. Is the USB device recognized?

When I was looking up information on it, it said it could print from usb. I didn't see anything about scanning to it though. I know the other models do both, they have a 6525 in a different room that will do both. They may have to walk over there and use that one if they want thumbdrive scanning cause when you put it in nothing pops up but if you go into different areas it shows that it's there, just no way to send to it that I can see.

This is a pretty old model. I've worked a couple but never had to deal with USB scan. I was looking for an operator's manual for it but no luck.

Just to verify, when I say USB I'm talking about thumbdrive before anyone skims over it and says it won't scan usb. It is networked for regular scanning.

I never noticed that before. The brochure confirms it. No scan to USB. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
