    Kyocera Taskalfa 6003i ADF Dead

    Dear All,

Kyocera taskalfa 6003i ADF is dead, the message shows; cannot use the document processor due to failure. The green light which indicates paper feed also does not turn on when a paper is inserted into ADF.

Thank you for your help in advance!

    Have you tried U906?

      What error is stored?

Maybe C9040 ... lift plate broken?
      Maybe dusty original detection sensor?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Maybe this might help. Maybe not. But least you can cross this off your list.

So in short, you build a whole new document processor on a new style frame. Only Kyocera would call this a "modification".

You're right bk. I got this QA from tech support and noticed the same thing.

I was having trouble with a 3553ci ADF when I got this QA. If I 906ed the machine, it would work fine for a few weeks then fail. What I did was check the S/N for the ADF to see if it needed any of the modifications talked about in the QA. And sure enough it did. I also checked if the machine was still under warranty. It was but I saw it was going to be a bitch to change all those parts out. I then looked through our lease return machines an found an ADF on a low mileage 2552ci. I work for a small company so it was no big thing to find out if the S/N for the ADFs and other accessories are listed on the paper work. The lease companies we use do not require S/N numbers for accessories. And ADFs, finishers, extra drawers, fax options, ect. are considered accessories. So I swapped the screwed ADF with the lease return ADF and have not looked back. That swapped ADF is still working fine.

I know its a crappy thing to do, but sometimes I have to do what is going to be the best for my time management.

But this is also why any used machine we get, I look at with a jaundiced eye. But that is a discussion for another day.

The modification is about the same as the Matsuri DP (KM-6525) ... the frame that breaks at the left hinge. =^..^=

I gotta wonder what the Paranormal Investigation Team of Atlanta (PITA) has to do with this? :-)

They must (somehow) be involved in making this ludicrous bulletin

I take it were not talking about the 2-sided failure, which requires a cleaning of the CIS reference roller, 906 and/or fw update.
