    Kyocera FS-C5016N Cyan problem

I am only a hobbyiest and I have a Kyocera FS-C5016N printer which is in good condition and a clean unit.

The printer has just started printing with the cyan missing in vertical strips - The photo I have attached shows the problem.

I am hopeful that someone will know what is causing this problem and if it is worth the effort to try and repair.

    Thanks

i'm seriously against spending any money on these as they are quite bad, so if things doesn't get better with running drum refresh, dev. refresh and colour calibration/colour adjustment (i.e. run everything under service menu), then just throw it away.

cleaning the leds won't help his problem as the stripes go in the other direction. this is more like a dev and/or charge problem. could be as easy as the connectors/wires are broken on drum or dev, or or or. these machines have so many issues, totally unstable.

I remember working on those printers, NIGHTMARE! We had 6 or 7 in the field and most had issues! Everytime the cust changed toner it would have problems. Some we nvr did figure out and replaced it. Did the later series get any better?

which way is the paper traveling?

Either way, the first thing I would try is taking out the Toner, then Developing units, then drum units and then reinstalling everything and seeing if that gets you somewhere.

PS. don't spend a lot of $$$ fixing it. It was a first generation color printer and they are not exactly reliable.

                  I appreciate all your inputs.

I did what several of you suggested and disassembled the unit and checked for anything obvious but found nothing, re-assembled and lo and behold the Cyan was printing perfectly. The problem has now shifted to the Magenta with exactly the same area missing as the original Cyan problem.

Since it now appears to be a connector issue I am pretty confident I can fix the problem. If I can confirm the exact connector involved I will add another post.

                  Thanks All

Can anyone advise if my FS-C5016N printer can print in grayscale when one of the color toners is completely empty.

The printer settings are set at grayscale but now I cannot access the printer menu or print any grayscale because I have a ' replace color toner ' message.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

I am with Texchar: Switch off the machine, remove the plug, remove the toner/developers and check the cable connections on the drum printhead. Common for them to be a bit wonky, and give this sort of problem in the feed direction.

Otherwise, source another 5016 and swap the heads over, not worth buying brand new heads.
