7003 Finisher guide getting knocked out

    Howdy folks,

The D4 guide on a DF-7110 has been knocked out of this machine for a second time now in a week. Customer said they had a jam and opened the cover and saw the guide not laying flat. Machine has jams J6600, J6500, J6310 which make sense as that guide is not transporting the paper from the drum roller to the exit of the finisher.

Any body run into this before? I was here last week when they knocked the drum protector guide off and found this knocked out. Im wondering if the gate that diverts the paper to the staple exit is not opening far enough. We had a bunch of jamming on this style finisher in the fall and swapping the solenoid with one further down (didn't have a booklet finisher) took care of the issue.

Make sure you have the update installed on the finisher. QA_H020_COM_0373_SB.pdf

My finisher is a 1X and sold in 2022 so it should have that upgrade thank god. That bulletin is pretty old now, 2017. Had me scared for a moment haha.

Start sending the client bills for damage done by end users and they will soon take more care of it.

So i brought another guide and checked a brand new machine in the office. It's just a shitty design, if you pull slightly forward as you are flipping that guide you can pull it out at the rear. The spring on the back does guide it back down when you fiddle with it trying to get it to go back in but the dowel isn't long enough on the guide.

I cleaned the rollers and swapped the solenoid on the gate to the left of the drum roller with another one not in use (no folder unit) and will give that a shot.

It did have the new style switch on that arm in the exit unit.

150 sheets using staple so it forces the machine to use the drum buffer and it ran fine.
