    [Jamming] P2040

    Howdy folks,

Got a P2040 in the office that is having jam code J4211.

It feeds 1 page and 2 pages fine. If you run 3 pages it jams every time. We pulled the fuser out and pulled the side cover off to test the exit sensor on the meter. Book shows YC19 as the connector but you can't get a lead in there so we measured from the sensor and it changes states from 0.3 to 3.3 volts just fine.

1st page exits, 2nd page comes out of the fuser about 1 inch, its still touching the reg sensor. 3rd sheet is just starting to feed.

Also works fine from the MP tray. Just tray 1 it jams after 3 sheets. We put a new fuser into it (it just had one from warranty, customer put it on the shelf and tried to use it a year later) and the new fuser seems to have cured the issue. Any idea what is up with that fuser? I swapped the fuser exit sensor from another wrecked fuser and that didn't help either.

    PFM!

The bulletin H173 describes this problem and attributes it to the fuser. They tried to improve the fuser to address the problem. The bulletin is from 2017

We are owned by Kyocera but still treated as a dealer and the website we have is pretty mickey mouse for bulletins. It mostly just has the B1 and manuals etc. Hardly any of the Q&A stuff is there ive seen posted here. Ill check with my rep.

      Thanks

Here's the bulletin. If you get 4211 jams just replace the fuser. Good luck

Rep got me the QA. I bet the fuser we installed last year for this customer was old stock and defective.

There are a bunch of bulletins and threads about these fusers. The teflon sheet dries out, and the resulting friction slows the fuser drive. Eventually it will consume the fuser drive pack too. Some members here claim a special lubricant helps, or removing the Teflon sheet. Most of the time by the time I see the machine, the Teflon sheet is shredded or completely gone. I worked for a dealer, so we just warrantied fusers ... lots of fusers. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Our regional service rep said to leave these set to the factory default sleep and low power settings, this is the only way to get any life out of these fusers.
