have seen this thread yet, unfortunately a little bit late...
i am sorry Tony but you published old bulletin.
Meanwhile KDC suggested to change complete DP unit by other bulletin.
It exists a special KDC warranty agreement/ compensation regarding this problem, but it was running out on march 2024.

The entire Doc feeder (302V093011) is less than $400...... why have all the cost of labor when you can be in & out in a total of 20 minutes or so. I have replaced 2 of these & 1 was under contract, I didn't cover the DF, but I did cover the labor. The other, the customer was very aggressive & always trying to close the feeder with books on the glass... (a library).. once I replaced, I showed him to keep a white towel to lay over the book & glass, no black edges & no broken frame on DF. any more.
